In Galápagos, we protect one of the most valuable natural heritages on the planet. Our work centers on three key protected areas:
- Galápagos National Park
- Galápagos Marine Reserve
- Brotherhood Marine Reserve
These spaces shelter nearly 7,000 species of native and endemic plants and animals, whose conservation is essential for the ecological balance of the archipelago and the health of its marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
Conservation is also built from within communities. That is why this project strengthens the leadership of 20 community women who not only actively participate in training and action, but also become agents of change and knowledge multipliers within their families, social networks, and communities.
This leadership generates a multiplier effect that extends the project’s reach beyond its direct participants. By sharing what they have learned — experiences and conservation practices — with those around them, the Blue Guardians raise awareness and inspire a growing number of indirect beneficiaries in the community, building a culture of ocean stewardship and shared environmental responsibility.
