Prionurus laticlavius
The body displays a dark gray, olive, or near-black base coloration. The posterior portion of the body and the caudal fin are typically suffused with a dull to vivid yellow.
The species forms enormous grazing schools that move in synchrony across the reef surface. By overwhelming the territorial defense systems of aggressive damselfish through sheer numerical advantage, these schools consume large patches of algae within minutes.
