Lutjanus viridis
The body displays a vivid yellow to intense golden base coloration, traversed longitudinally by five brilliant blue to sky-blue stripes edged with thin black borders.
During daylight hours, this species characteristically forms dense, massive schools that move in a slow, synchronized fashion in close proximity to rocky walls or beneath cave overhangs.
Although gregarious by day, at dusk the school disperses and individuals adopt a solitary, active hunting strategy near the seafloor.
