Laguncularia racemosa
It establishes itself on slightly elevated, less frequently inundated terrain within the mangrove zone. It can present as a dense shrub or a tree reaching 10 to 18 meters in height.
It possesses specialized salt-excreting glands on the leaf surface, through which excess salt is eliminated. Tiny white salt crystals are commonly visible on the leaves.
It develops aerial roots known as pneumatophores, which grow vertically upward from the substrate to facilitate gas exchange in waterlogged, oxygen-depleted soils.
